"Dawaz" vuol dire "camminare in aria sul filo del rasoio" in lingua Uygur.
E' un'arte acrobatica con una lunga storia di oltre 1000 anni tra la gente Uygur.
Il dizionario turco scritto tra il 1072 e 1074 lo documenta. Per più di 1000 anni, il dawaz è stato eseguito più o meno nello stesso modo, mantenendo la tradizione.
Uno spettacolo dawaz di solito è fatto a cielo aperto. La caratteristica più sorprendente del dawaz sono le abilità acrobatiche messe in mostra dal funambolo a decine di metri da terra.
