Abe ryū, noto anche come Abe-tate Kendo è una scuola di combattimento con la spada giapponese, fondata da 安 倍 頼 任 nel 17° secolo. Si è formato dal Taisha-ryu, un ramo di Shinkage-ryu.
La scuola è ben nota come la prima scuola importante ad usare il termine kendo nel proprio nome. E' stata la prima scuola di combattimento con la spada a chiamare ciò che essa insegnava kendo anziché kenjutsu anche se il termine è apparso in precedenza al primo. Non vi è alcun collegamento diretto tra quest'uso della parola e il kendo promosso dopo la Restaurazione Meiji, è solo uno dei tanti nomi utilizzati per l'istruzine nell'arte della spada in quel periodo.
